Did the rule change? Can I wear white to a wedding?

With summer wedding season around the corner, the old-age question, can I wear white to a wedding, is popping up.

We all know it used to be considered disrespectful to wear white to weddings.  Afterall, the attention should be on the bride.

Unfortunately to answer the question…no. You should only wear white to a wedding if you're the bride.

Yes, many wedding rules have gone away over the years, but never upstage the bride. It is her special day. No matter what you're wearing or no matter how un-bridal it looks, if you are the only person that's wearing white, you will stick out like a sore thumb.  It would be better etiquette if you chose to wear something else.

How would you feel if you saw a room full of people wearing white too?  I'm not sure I would like the feeling.

I say avoid wearing white at all costs.  You do not want the bride or any of the bridal party to feel upstaged because of the color your chose.  It's an old-fashioned rule, but sometimes the old-fashioned rules, never go away.

I found these super cute outfit ideas on the Wedding Guide Chicago Pinterest page and thought they were great inspiration for outfit ideas to wear as a guest of a wedding:
